Principles of the Editorial Board Forming

The “Nuclear Safety” Journal Editorial Board is formed based on the COPE principles.

Potential members of the Editorial Board can be recommended to the Editor-in-Chief by current members of the Editorial Board, reviewers, and authors.

Editors wishing to participate in the work of the journal as members of the Editorial Board can apply to the Editor-in-Chief.

A member of the “Nuclear Safety” Journal Editorial Board cannot be an editor holding the same position in more than one other journal;

All potential members of the Editorial Board must be willing to provide the “Nuclear Safety” Journal Editorial Board with information about all potential and actual conflicts of interest (e.g., any involvement in publishing scientific journals and books, membership in the editorial boards of other journals, and any conflicts of interest that may arise after their appointment).

The participation of potential candidates for the role of a member of the Editorial Board is considered at regular meetings of the Editorial Board. The final decision on including a potential candidate in the Editorial Board is made by the Editor-in-Chief or a Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

Duties of an Editorial Board Member:

• publishing one article per year to support the journal;
• reviewing incoming manuscripts within their area of expertise and in the absence of external reviewers. Each member of the Editorial Board reviews no more than two manuscripts per year. Reviews must be conducted in accordance with the established Peer Review Policy of the “Nuclear Safety” Journal;
• selecting reviewers for incoming articles at the request of the executive secretary, monitoring the peer review process for incoming articles;
• deciding on the possibility of publishing an article after all rounds of peer review. Decisions are communicated to the Editor-in-Chief, who makes the final decision on the publication;
• inviting authors and reviewers to collaborate with the journal;
• a member of the editorial board can be excluded from the editorial board due to violation of publication ethics (disclosure of information or conflict of interest, use of status for personal purposes) as a result of non-fulfilment of duties within a year without a valid reason and without the approval of the Editor-in-Chief or a Deputy Editor-in-Chief as well as at the request of an Editorial Board member.

Privileges of an Editorial Board Member:

• articles by members of the “Nuclear Safety” Journal Editorial Board are given priority consideration;
• a member of the Editorial Board can serve as a guest editor for a special issue of the “Nuclear Safety” Journal;
• information about a member of the Editorial Board is posted on the “Nuclear Safety” Journal’s website.
